Alice Cooper: the now globally well known performer did struggle at the beginning of his career. His agent, Shep Gordon, had booked him a concert in London. However, the stadium had space for 10.000 people and the tickets sold by then were only 50. English people did not know who Alice Cooper was. That's when it hit Gordon. He had already made Alice to pose naked with a snake covering his privates. What he did after that it was a breakthrough to provocative marketing but also effective PR. He took the photograph, put it on a billboard and a truck. He order the truck to make circles around Piccadilly Circus on rush hour. Can you guess what happened after that? Alice made it on the news and everybody spoke about him. The parents went furious about the whole Alice Cooper persona and hence the children wanted to feel rebellious loved him. The concert tickets were sold within 10 days and Alice Cooper and his agent made history.
Potato in Greece: During the 16th century when Ioannis Kapodistrias was the governor of Greece, potato was starting to become famous in Europe. Due to its nutritious nature and its low cost, Kapodistrias decided that it would be ideal for the Greeks who were struggling after war. He brought potatoes back to Greece but the villagers and farmers who were about to use the seeds in order to cultivate them, were very suspicious and conservative and threw the potatoes away. Kapodistrias knew however the psychology of his people and due to his PR and marketing skills -even though the terms weren't invented then- he decided to make a trick. He made a pile of potatoes and he put guards to keep it safe. After all these, Greeks thought that it was something extraordinary and highly unique and therefore they must had it. The pile of potatoes was gone within very few days and thanks to this genius move of Kapodistrias we are now enjoying this delicious food.
