Music has always been considered one of those radiant few things in the world, which has the power and potential to bring together people from all around the world. While some say all you need is love, and others say all you need is talent and skill, all musicians also need a great and effective publicity team behind them. The music industry is an incredibly competitive environment, with many hoping to reach the charts, whilst few in the end really make it big and famous.
But other than having the right people, being in the right place in the right time, being fuelled by deep desire and passion, effective PR can also play a major (if not the major) role in this divine process.
“An artist’s PR team can make or break them”, PR helps generate far more than album sales. It helps generate influence and with influence artists and musician become powerful (think of all the causes and even activism artists can help impact).
The PR team of an artist is hence known as the ‘publicity team’. This team (for example at a record label) is a well-connected team of creative, smart and savvy people, who help to create and build the main image of the artist. Whilst the image of the artist may change over time and develop into new areas and ventures, they help to build and cement the main foundation of the artist, allowing him or her to grow and evolve from that point onwards.
Good public relations and branding is thereby the essence which evolves ordinary artists into living (and even dead) legends.
